Tenby Events Management Ltd. (TEM) and the De Valence are working in collaboration to present 'Hulabaloo!', a new annual harbour event for Tenby and its visitors, launching this Sunday, August 14, from 3 - 10 pm. With its International and Family theme, and fun and laughter at the top of the agenda, it is the event of the summer you don't want to miss! Opening the afternoon will be London-based steel band Steel Explosion, a Jamaican music combo that's sure to surprise and delight the crowds with the exciting sound of steelpans at its core. Great fun and a totally tropical ambience! Following on, acts will include local singer and musician Gareth Howell, and Sounds Recycled, an all-male accapello group, known for their diversity and adaptability of modern and traditional songs. Full of Eastern promise will be belly-dancer Guinevere Clark, a Haverfordwest based teacher and performer, who will be running a bellydancing workshop to create short dance routines to accompany her in her own stylised and unique stage performance the same afternoon. Also dancing will be Vicki and Sean, of Unison Dancers, and Sita and Sam. Sam Davies is a past Irish Open Irish dance champion, while Vicki Tansey and Sean Griffiths are British national youth dance champions. Sita is a presenter on the children's television programme 'Stitch Up', currently being shown on CBBC on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Sita and Sam are pupils at Greenhill School. Vicki and Sean are from Milford. There will be family fun and entertainment from the De Valence's very own Family Night entertainer Fergie Beynon, who always has the children dancing, singing and wanting more. Go along and meet Bruce Airhead, the metamorphosis of a man and a six-foot balloon. Bruce Airhead uses a voice- activated vacuum cleaner to inflate a six-foot balloon. Then to the crowd's disbelief, he slides completely inside the balloon. Once inside, a fast changing sequence of music leads to an explosive finish as the balloon bursts to reveal Bruce as Elvis Presley, in a jumpsuit, with wig and sunglasses. Closing the day will be Walking Wounded, a five- piece band (accordion, guitar, harmonica, bass and percussion and three-part harmony vocals) from East London playing a wide variety of original material from Rock to Arabic, Reggae to Balkan, Celtic to Ska and blues. Winners of the 2004 Glastonbury Unsigned Bands competition, "this band are fiercely proud of their eclecticism which sees them guide through acoustic punk, jazz and Pop" (Majo). Throughout the day there will be lots of surprises and walkabouts in the centre of Tenby and on the harbour from local performers and artists from Circus Malarkey. The event has been sponsored by Serendipity Games Centre, of Tenby, Frank B Mason, Texaco and WEFO. All monies raised will be used to promote and develop youth initiatives at the De Valence and in and around Tenby as part of the Tenby Events Management Project. Youth initiatives are likely to include youth theatre workshops, one- off workshops from visiting and local professional artists and events which provide a professional set- up/platform for new and emerging bands, singers and dancers. The overall Tenby Events Management Ltd and De Valence project has been funded by European Objective One Funding.
