Sir, As one of the bus drivers who was present on the Greenhill School Barcelona trip, and who had to stay behind with the stricken coach, I would like to point out that we all owe a huge debt of gratitude to an ex-pat lady, Sally McEwen, who lives in Loudeve, close to where we all were stranded. She acted as interpreter for me with the French mechanics, and, when she heard of the children's plight, contacted the local Gendarmerie (it was the traffic police who were a bit over-zealous in impounding the bus) and the Mayor and spent hours on the phone sorting out the accomodation for the children who remained behind. If anyone would like to contact her to express their thanks, then please do so on [email protected]">[email protected]

I would also like to add that I thoroughly enjoyed driving the Greenhill kids and they were a pleasure to be around. I would not hesitate in doing so again, although choruses of 'Are we nearly there yet', started mainly by the adults, did not go down too well!
