Tenby branch of Christian Aid is not asking you to give up something for Lent this year - but take up something.

The committee is hoping you'll attend one or more of their special Lent lunches at three local churches in the weeks leading up to Easter.

All proceeds will go to help the world's starving children, which is why the lunches are described as 'frugal': little more than a roll, soup and tea or coffee.

The annual lunches are becoming one of Tenby's friendliest social occasions - and everyone is warmly welcome.

Rev. Andrew Davies, Rector of Tenby, said: 'This is an opportunity to help people in real distress in troubled countries. It's also an ideal way of celebrating one of Britain's most important festivals. We hope everyone will support us."

Each lunch begins at 12 noon and there's a suggested donation of £2.50 or more per person.

The first lunch is at Church House at St. Mary's Church on Wednesday, March 4. St. Johns hosts the event a week later and the Salvation Army serves the lunch on March 18.

St. Mary's (March 25), the Salvation Army (April 1) and St. Johns (April 8) then each host a second Lent lunch on the following three Wednesdays.
