In a letter to Church leaders in Tenby, Dyfed Health Authority Chair Ainsley Reid said that Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust is in the process of finalising a submission to the Welsh Assembly setting out options for the redevelopment of hospital services in Tenby, it was revealed this week.
"Once this first stage is over the Trust will need to make a further "more detailed proposal on the preferred option," Mr. Reid continued. "These arrangements are part of the All Wales Capital Planning Process and consequently can take some time to work through."
The letter ends with an assurance from the chair that the Health Authority, Local Health Group and the NHS Trust are all "committed to delivering the community services strategy for Pembrokeshire and as part of that service improvements for the people in Tenby, Saundersfoot and Narberth."
Commenting on letter the Ministers said, "We as Churches were concerned that no progress was being made on the future of Hospital care in the area. For us this letter is both encouraging and depressing at the same time. While it is encouraging that a hospital has not been ruled out, we appear to still be a long way away from getting a decision on the hospital's long term future."
