Sir,
Regarding your story last week about the sale of the old hospital site. This area needs rented accommodation for our young people as there is little chance that the majority will ever get on the property ladder. Why can this site not be used for this?
If the county council are not prepared to build such properties, then why not sell it to the Housing Association, even though it would be below the market value. We know councils have to balance the books in these days of cutbacks, but put something back into the community, something that was paid for by this community.
There is at present one site on The Norton that has been closed for nearly two years and the Tenby Ford site has been on the market for some considerable time, so even if this site is sold, it would probably stay as it is for some time until the property market improves, still leaving an eyesore of a site.
This site could be used now, so don't sell it to a builder or some entrepreneur who will leave it sitting dormant, maybe for years, until the market improves.
Dave McGrath,
The Clicketts,
Tenby.
