The well established Local Implementation Group for the reprovision of services at Tenby Cottage Hospital met last Friday.

The group was once again well attended by key representatives of the local community and one new member of the group was welcomed, namely Dr. William Clifford, who will represent the Tenby Walled Town Residents Association.

Chairman, Mansel Thomas expressed thanks to the Local Implementation Group for their continued efforts towards the planning of the £4 million scheme.

It was evident to see that partnership working between representatives of the Local Implementation Group, health professionals and key stakeholders was proving to be invaluable in the process of progressing current and enhanced service provision. All parties are placing this new and exciting development high on their agenda.

Following last month's decision to retain the original name of 'Tenby Cottage Hospital', a competition to design a new hospital logo will be opened out in September to all local schools within the catchment area.

Tenby Cottage Hospital is an established name known to all residents across the wider sphere of Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, and it was felt important to keep this continuity.

Work has progressed on the communication strategy, which will shortly be rolled out in order to provide a clear understanding of what services will be provided within the new facility. A series of presentations, drop in days/displays will be undertaken in Tenby and Saundersfoot and other community localities.

Concern has been raised regarding security at the new development, this has already been discussed within the working groups. The Trust's security officer and a member of the local Police will attend the next meeting of the Local Implementation Group to discuss ensuring maximum security for users and staff. The next meeting will take place on August 6 in the Mayor's Parlour, De Valence Pavilion, Tenby, at 2.30 pm. All meetings are public, and local people are very welcome to attend.
