Sir,
I write in relation to the projected Tenby Hospital.
The continued delay in pushing this scheme forward is causing great concern to people in South Pembrokeshire. This project has been fought over for a long time by local people, and with strong sustained support from the League of Friends. Local AMs have been supportive of the need for a hospital.
I fear now that the decision is being delayed for political reasons beyond the other side of the Assembly elections. This is quite plainly unacceptable.
I have written to Jane Hutt urging a decision now for a hospital routed in the community with beds within the National Health hospital. Nothing else is acceptable to the people of South Pembrokeshire, or to all those people who have fought hard for his hospital.
I challenge Jane Hutt to respond positively to this plea now so that this matter can be settled before and not after the Assembly elections.
Nicholas Bourne AM,
Leader of the
Welsh Conservatives in the National Assembly,
Cardiff Bay,
Cardiff.
