Sir,
Like your unnamed correspondent (November 27 issue), I too was away when the notice board was erected at the end of The Croft and on my return I was also similarly horrified at the appearance of this monstrosity.
In addition to the totally inappropriate siting and apart from being extremely kitsch in concept, I find the execution to be extremely poor - has the 'artist' never studied the proportions of a human being, or ever progressed beyond junior school art classes (with apologies to all junior school children)?
I note Mrs. Courie makes a slightly tongue-in-cheek comment about being willing to pay for the re-siting of the notice board in perhaps a better location, but in all seriousness, if she wishes to start a fund to pay for its removal, I shall gladly contribute the first £50 - hopefully such a fund would accumulate enough to facilitate such removal before the next visitor season and thus prevent our resort from becoming a laughing stock.
Andrew Lowe,
