The Rotary Club of Tenby held its Annual Young Musician Competition at St. Johns Church on Tuesday evening. The event was well attended and the audience comprised parents and relatives of the competitors, their teachers, plus Rotarians and various invited guests.

Nine children aged between nine and 11 took part, three each from Tenby Junior School, St. Teilo's Catholic School and St. Florence Junior School.

The competitors comprised Ieuan Buck (euphonium) and his twin brother Matty (trumpet), Gareth Davie (saxophone), Jade Rowell (clarinet), Zara Bakewell (flute), Ella Griffiths (viola), Ieuan James (trombone), Hollie MacDonald (violin) and Dominic Belli (French horn).

Adjudicator Paul Rapi, head of music at Greenhill School, congratulated all nine pupils on the excellent standard of their performances. He explained that all of them had already reached the equivalent of GCSE level and some would even achieve A level standard!

Following considerable deliberation, he awarded first prize to Hollie and stated that Ella deserved to be highly commended.

Hollie was then presented with the Charles and Audrey Roberts Shield for her school, Tenby Juniors, and a replica for herself.

During the delightful evening, the audience were also entertained by the choir from Tenby Junior ,who sang a variety of numbers most beautifully.
