A hockey team from Templeton School recently travelled to Fishguard Leisure Centre for the Pembrokeshire Zone Final of the 'Activate' Welsh Primary Schools Hockey Competition.
Teams from Brynconin, Goodwick and Ger y Llan joined them in a day of hockey, organised by Angela Miles (hockey development officer for Pembrokeshire) and her team.
Four teams competed on the day for a place in the final, to be held in Newtown on Friday, July 3.
Templeton won their first game against Ger y Llan one goal to nil and drew their second game against Goodwick, with no goals scored by either side.
The final game of the afternoon between Templeton and Brynconin would decide which team had done enough to book a place in the Welsh Finals at Newtown.
In a very even and hard fought game, with neither side able to score, it looked like Brynconin would earn the right to represent Pembrokeshire in the finals as they only needed to draw the game.
However, Templeton in the last five seconds of the game, produced the winning goal which would once again see them travelling to Newtown to represent this area.
This is a great achievement for such a small school as it is the fourth time in five years that a team from Templeton has made the Welsh Finals.
If there is anyone who would like to sponsor the team in their efforts to transport the children to Newtown, please contact Mr. Perkins at Templeton School (01834 860657).
Many thanks to all the parents and grandparents who helped transport the children to Fishguard and for supporting them throughout a very busy day.
