The new 2010/11 hockey season started in style at the weekend.

Pembrokeshire ladies kicked off for the winter at a special county-wide competition.

Teams from Crymych, Fishguard and Goodwick, Haverfordwest, Milford Haven and Pembroke played a round robin competition at the Haverfordwest astroturf pitch.

Haverfordwest came out on top, winning all their games and conceding just one gaol.

Angela Miles, hockey development officer for Sport Pembrokeshire - the sports development arm of Pembrokeshire County Council - praised the high standard of play on the pitch.

"Although the clubs all play in various leagues over South West Wales, it was great to see them all play together at the Pembrokeshire tournament," she said.
