Joel Davies, of Hayseeds, Templeton, would like to thank everyone who sponsored him in his recent charity hitch-hike to Morocco in aid of Link's eductaion programme in Africa.

Joel is currently reading Maths at Warwick and was one of 30 students to take part from that university. Link works to improve the quality of teaching and learning in the most disadvantaged schools in South Africa, Ghana and Uganda and aims to affect over 900 schools.

The hitch-hike began in the snow-covered Midlands, but the weather rapidly improved as he travelled south. The variety of cutltures, people and climates was astonishing.

The only similarity between the people who gave lifts seemed to be their generosity; they varied from German truck drivers with a love of cheesy Spanish music to Spanish ice-cream salesmen who hated the sun! So many lovely people and so many happy memories.

Joel would especially like to thank Mrs. Gwyneth John, of Heron's Brook, for her kind words and generous donation.
