In January, the Tenby Historical Society had a graphical illustration of medieval warfare when George Wright, of the Collegiate of Knights Templar Re-enactment Society, turned up at the Fourcroft Hotel complete with armour and weapons. Mr. Wright discussed the evolution of both and demonstrated the use of the different kinds of weapons (members ducked and carnage was limited). He went on to tell how the Knights Templar had been formed to defend the Christian interests in the Holy Land and had become rich and powerful, thus ensuring the enmity of the French Crown. At the next meeting of the Historical Society, John Andrews will describe the work of the Pembroke Dock Sunderland Trust. This will be at Tenby Bowling Club on Tuesday, February 5, at 7.30 pm. All are welcome.
