County Councillor Wynne Evans has presented an old framed photograph of Narberth to Narberth Rugby Club president, Tony Jones, for display at the Narberth RFC clubhouse. The photograph is an aerial view of part of the town taken around 1958 and has an interesting history, as Clr. Evans explained in making the presentation recently at the club. "The picture was rescued from a skip by my parents on the closure of Narberth County Secondary School, where my mother worked as a cleaner. A number of other pictures were also rescued and have been saved. These pictures were passed on to the Narberth Museum, and other bodies. "We believe the picture dates back to around 1958, and shows much of Narberth, including the rugby and cricket pitches, together with the fields which are now the site of the Dingle Caravan Park and Club. "There is another picture which shows the missing section of the town and that is with the Museum. "This picture has been donated to the Rugby Club as I felt it should be displayed where it could be viewed by so many people who come to the clubhouse for sporting events and other functions. "It is quite an historical document, clearly identifying boundaries, and shows how the town has changed in the last 45 years or so, including some significant advances in the sporting developments and achievements of the local sporting clubs in the town." The framed photograph will be erected in a prominent position in the clubhouse on the wall between the door to the Lounge and the door of the Players Bar. In accepting the picture on behalf of the Rugby Club, Tony Jones said: "The club is delighted to accept the donation from Clr. Wynne Evans. It demonstrates how many improvements have occurred at the club in the last 15 years, as it shows the original rugby field, and the old clubhouse.  "Since then, as members of the club are aware, the club has erected the new clubhouse, the stand and changing rooms and now has two floodlit playing fields.   "This is a huge development for rugby, not only in Narberth, but it also benefits the young players in West Wales who train at the club."
