Safety issues have been flagged-up after high tides left pavements and walkways in a Pembrokeshire seaside village covered in large stones and debris.

A week since a large swell in the sea caused the issues, and one local remains disgruntled that the public areas still remain hazardous, as no clear up from the authorities has been forthcoming.

“It is now a week since high tides and a large swell covered the pavements in Amroth with large rocks, tree trunks, stones and debris,” said Ian Wilkinson.

“Numerous requests were placed the next morning and all through last week, by the local and county councillors, plus concerned locals.

“The next morning a digger turned up and levelled an area of stones outside the Amroth Arms; where the pavements were not covered, it also removed some stones from the stream. They worked for two days and then left.

“Another contractor turned up to put new benches in, they cleared enough stones so they could safely do their job, but the vast majority were left!” he continued.

“This happened, to a lesser extent earlier in the year, and the council were nowhere in sight. A number of locals cleared a path, so you could get a wheelchair along the pavements and down the ramp. This time heavy lifting gear is required. Why are the council ignoring this? It is a matter of public safety,” added Mr. Wilkinson.
