The ninth local annual Chevron Boccia Tournaments were held recently at the Meads Sport and Leisure Centre in Milford Haven. Boccia is a game based on boules that was developed originally for people with cerebral palsy, but is now played by people of all abilities and disabilities. The schools tournament was held on March 27. Five teams entered the junior schools competition. The final was between Fenton '1' (Jamie George, Charlie John and Louis Thomas) and Portfield '2' (Jordan Legg, Michael Banks and Josh Harding), with Fenton being the winnners Ten teams entered the secondary schools competition. The final was between Ysgol Y Preseli '1' (Jacob Thomas and Meilyr Tomos) and Portfield '2' (Ryan Jotdan, Gavin John and Dafydd-Parr Evans), with Preseli being the winners. Fourteen teams entered the adult competition on March 28. The final was between Ysgol Bro Gwaun - The Three Musketeers (Karen Bennett, Natalie Gough and Christopher Varney) and Young Voices '1' (Lynsey McKarthy and Amy Barrett), with Young Voices being the winners. The standard of play was very high, especially as it was the first time some of the contestants had played Boccia. The winners and runners-up will go on to the regional South Wales tournament on April 28 in Milford Haven Phil Thompson, representing Chevron, the sponsors of the event, made the presentations to the winners and runners-up.
