The British Heart Foundation (BHF) fundraising branch in Narberth were awarded by the High Sheriff of Dyfed, Prof. Medwin Hughes, at his reception event, for their outstanding work in the community, raising money for life-saving heart research in the local community over the past 33 years.

The branch was set up in 1984, giving their time and energy to accelerate the fight against heart disease. Over the years the branch has taken part and organised a range of fundraising activities to help raise vital funds, from coffee mornings to collections.

Ralph Dunbar, chairman of the branch, said: “We’re delighted to receive the award and it was a wonderful evening. We would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported us over the last 33 years and look forward to continuing our support of the BHF’s life-saving research over the coming years.”

Jayne Lewis, BHF fundraising manager for South West Wales, said: “Well done to the Narberth branch members on their award. Heart and circulatory disease affects around seven million people in the UK and thanks to the Narberth branch we’ll be able to fund even more research into these conditions.”
