THE beauty of the Welsh coastline has been much celebrated, but what of the stories that lie hidden among the rock pools and sand dunes? Nicola Heywood-Thomas prises them out in 'The Shape of Wales', a six-part series that follows up the success of the first of that title.
There are tales of ghosts, buried villages, Hollywood-style parties and foreign invaders, and Nicola - who again flies around the coast in a helicopter - meets a rock star, an artist and a peer of the realm, as well as less famous but equally fascinating people.
The first programme, to be shown on HTV on Sunday at 5.45 pm, takes viewers from the bleak beauty of Pembrokeshire's offshore islands to the lush countryside around the Cleddau estuary.
Along the way the programme takes in Milford Haven, one of the largest natural harbours in Britain, Strumble Head lighthouse, St. David's Cathedral and - from the spiritual to the strictly commercial - two oil refineries.
