Sir,

As a born and bred Tenby resident of 85 years, I was disgusted and saddened on a recent walkabout at the completely neglected state of the tarmac footpath leading down to the harbour by the old Dead House Steps. Due to the number of pot holes, it is unsafe to walk on.

Also, the rotten state of sections of the handrails along the North Walk, thick with rust.

I realise that common sense is a rare thing in Britain these days, but whoever in their right mind would install non-galvanised handrails so close to the sea?

And what of the ugly jungle of weeds etc under the cliff overlooking the North Beach and beside the zig zag footpath?

Why not plant and let spread golden gorse which at least would look better than it does at present and would not require expensive attention.

I suppose one should not look back to the days when the North Beach would be packed with people in deckchairs and able to hire a beach tent.

Want a deckchair or a tent now? Bring your own!

After my walk around, I felt ashamed of being a resident. Tenby - gem of the west? Who are they kidding?

I sometimes wonder if some people have a hidden agenda to put people off coming to Tenby! If so, they are doing a great job of it.

Pedestrianisation, pavements cluttered with bollards, uneven cobblestones, cafe culture, close the De Valence. What next?
