To provide a background to the book of Jude - a short letter of warning written by one of Jesus' brothers - Rev. Peter Richmond talked about the 12 'spies' who were sent into the land God had promised them. True, it was a land flowing with milk and honey, but there were also some giant people living there. Only two of the spies had faith enough to see that they could take the land, with God's strength.
"Don't let feelings of inadequacy, doubt or fear of obstacles, problems or practical difficulties rob you of what God wants you to have and achieve," said the pastor.
"Whatever giants you are facing, remember God is bigger.
"Too many Christians have had the Exodus experience of being set free from sin, only to spend the rest of their lives wandering in a spiritual wilderness."
All this and more was said in Carringtons Restaurant, in Tenby, on Sunday afternoon. The service included some songs of praise and the reciting of Psalm 122, as well as a prayer time. It ended with refreshments.
There is another service this Sunday at 4.15 pm. Carringtons is below the Atlantic Hotel. To find out more, visit the website, http://www.hesed.co.uk">www.hesed.co.uk
