Every week at Hesed, Psalm 122 is read - a psalm that promises to pray for Jerusalem and seek prosperity and safety for the city. As a reminder of the reason for this tradition, started by the Ten Boom family who helped many Jews escape the holocaust, Pastor Peter Richmond read the following quotation from Israel Today magazine: "Pastor Marcio Valadao attended the Day of Prayer in Jerusalem, while his 34,000-member church in Brazil was praying back home. 'First of all, we believe it is a command in the Bible to pray for Jerusalem,' he said. 'Secondly, by obeying Him we want to bring joy to His heart. And thirdly, when we bless the Jews, we are blessed in return.' Remembrance Sunday was a good time to focus on the God of the Bible who promises to remember his people and his city: "See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands..." But he is also the God who forgets sin, said Rev. Richmond: "I am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more." Hesed services take place at Carringtons Restaurant, The Atlantic Hotel, Tenby, every Sunday at 4.15 pm. All are welcome. Telephone 01646 681805 for details of events in the week.
