Sunday services take place each week at 4.15 pm in Carringtons Restaurant, below the Atlantic Hotel on Tenby's Esplanade. Last Sunday the fellowship learnt about an amazing connection between ancient Jewish wedding customs and Jesus as the Bridegroom of the Church. It was traditional for a betrothal to involve a 'bride price', and for a contract to be sealed with a drink of wine. Then the groom would go away to his father's house, to prepare a bridal chamber. The time of his return would not be known, so the bride would have to be ready for his sudden arrival, which would be announced with a shout and a trumpet call. When Jesus said, "I am going to prepare a place for you," and "in my father's house are many rooms," he was using a well-known first-century wedding formula. In Jesus' case, the 'bride price' was his own life, and the betrothal was sealed with the cup of wine at Passover (remembered in Communion). Bible study and prayer takes place every Tuesday evening.
