When Jesus had been followed to a remote place by 5,000 people looking to him for teaching or healing, he also knew that they needed food. He asked one of the disciples, a local man, where they could buy bread. Instead of answering the question, the man started to explain to Jesus why they could not afford the food needed. He then asked another disciple if they had bread, and the second man also told Jesus that what they had, the famous five loaves and two fishes, was not enough.
The Pastor, Rev. Peter Richmond, said that we often fall into this pattern. When God asks us to do something, we try to explain that our resources are inadequate.
If we begin by obeying, God will complete the work He wants to do.
