“We need your help,” says the Saundersfoot Bay Heritage Regeneration Trust.
The trust has been in existence for over nine years: its purpose is to ensure that the industrial and cultural heritage of the Saundersfoot Bay area is preserved, enhanced, highlighted and celebrated.
Saundersfoot Bay is defined as the coastal area between Telpin in the East and Monkstone Point in the West together with associated hinterland villages.
Saundersfoot Bay Heritage Regeneration Trust has been working with Saundersfoot Harbour, providing content for the recently built Heritage Centres, prior to their planned opening early next year.
“It has been an interesting project and, despite all the setbacks and delays, it has now come to the final stage and we need the help of everyone who wants to keep the history and industrial heritage of this area alive for future generations,” said a spokesperson for the trust.
How can you help?
• The trust needs old photos that you would be willing to share. The photos will be copied and relevant details kept digitally: the original will be returned to you.
• If you or family members have loaned or given items to any other local group and would like to share them, and possibly see them displayed in one of the Heritage Centres, please contact the trust (details below). Any mining, railway or other industrial artefacts would be of interest, or photographs, that you would lend to be shown as part of the exhibition.
• If you grew up in the Saundersfoot Bay area and have first-hand experiences about family members working in the coal mining or other industries that you would like to share with the group, please let the trust know.
You can contact them through the Saundersfoot Bay Heritage Regeneration Trust Facebook page, or in person to:
