There was a packed ringside at Whitland Mart on Friday for the dispersal sale of the Grovelink herd of pedigree Holstein cattle on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Williams. Heading the bidding was the down calving heifer Grovelink Duplex Butterfly 64, sired by Mesland Duplex ET PI and out of Grovelink Butterfly 40 Ex90 - with 10 generations of Ex breeding - and in-calf to Shottle which sold at 6,000 gns to Messrs. Davies, Caeremlyn, Henllan Amgoed. Two others also sold to the same buyers; the May 2006 born Grovelink Igniter Ivanna 17, sired by Summer Shade Igniter ET PI served to Shottle at 3,800 gns and the March 2003 third calver, Grovelink Millenium Mauritsa 22 86 at 3,100 gns. Local buyers also figured prominently in other well- bred female lots which sold for 3,000 gns, 2,000 gns, 1,350 gns, and 1,250 gns. Of the bulls on offer, Grovelink Buttershot (born August 2007) sired by Shottle and out of Grovelink Convincer Butterfly 51 Ex91 sold to 1,550 gns to H. Davies, Bryntrogyn, Clynderwen; Grovelink Butterman (born November 2004) sired by Braedale Freeman ET and out of Grovelink Butterfly 40 VG86 sold at 1,150 gns to T. P. and H. W.
