Our popular free monthly 'paper, the Tenby Times, will be celebrating a special birthday next month.

The Tenby Times will be 10-years-old and to celebrate, we are publishing a special 'double figure' anniversary issue.

But we need your help!

As well as being available at all our usual outlets, the commemorative issue will be included inside the Observer on Friday, October 8.

So why not rise to one of our anniversary challenges and help us celebrate in style?

We have three competitions - art, photography and poetry.

The winner in each category will win a token prize of appropriately £10, and we will feature the best 10 of each section, as judged by local experts.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Few towns are as photogenic as Tenby. We are looking for your own photographs of Tenby. They could be brand new or taken years ago, but they must be yours. It's a good opportunity to display your work, and of course the chance to win £10!

POETRY

Poet's Corner was an old Observer tradition and has successfully been revived for the Tenby Times, with some outstanding poems from local writers. Have you a way with words? Send your best poem about Tenby and we'll include the best 10, as well as awarding £10 to the winning poet.

ART

If you enjoy drawing or painting as a hobby, this is an opportunity to showcase your work to a wider audience. Submit your best painting or sketch of Tenby (or send a reproduction) to enter the art competition.

Submitting entries

To enter, send your photograph, poem or art clearly labelled with your name, address and telephone number to Tenby Times Tenth, Tindle House, Warren Street, Tenby SA70 7JY.

(Entries are limited to two per person, regardless of category. The closing date for all submissions is Friday, October 1.)

the tenby times

The first issue of the Tenby Times was distributed in October, 2000, and quickly achieved popularity as a monthly opportunity to see pictures from Tenby's past, with articles about the town's institutions, whether long-established or long-gone.

Most people have a natural curiosity about the recent past, which the Tenby Times is able to stimulate. Readers are frequently rewarded when they recognise an old friend or relative in one of the past pictures.

Other regular features include gardening advice, recipes, the 'Dinner Table', and the monthly £10 dual crossword.

We are ever grateful for the large number of photographs and artefacts we receive from readers, and for the regular contributions from local writers, historians and enthusiasts. Thank you for making the Tenby Times a truly local newspaper.
