The countdown is on to the Help for Heroes Colossal Cake Sale on Saturday, May 7, at Narberth Townsmoor Car Park, 9.30-4 pm.

The sale is in aid of our wounded soldiers and their families like Ben who was given an adapted cycle which enabled him, for the first time in 18 months, to go out with his young family.

It is easy to overlook the effect these injuries have on the families and we are only just beginning to realise how serious and widespread PTSD is.

This is a hidden illness, not well understood, but devastating to the sufferer.

Help for Heroes’s mission is to provide enduring support, care and inspiration to our wounded to enable them to fulfil their potential and to give back as much independence and confidence as possible.

There are so many examples of incredible achievements.

Chris is a triple amputee who has been assisted to take up competitive sailing.

Said one of the organisers Sally Amoore: “Hopefully, we will have some better weather this year as we aim to raise even more than we have done in the past years. Please roll up your sleeves for our guys and girls. We need as many cakes and biscuits, buns and jams etc as you can offer as we always run out of cakes before the end of the day. There are lots of cakes and biscuits that are suitable for freezing! We are trying to top the leader board in money raised - so far we are third.”
