The Hedge Crashers Ladies Cycling Group, pictured here with Tony Key, are taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon on March 26 and holding a Coffee Morning in Saundersfoot Regency Hall on April 16, to raise funds for the Wales Air Ambulance.

Just before Christmas, one of their members, Paula Smith, and her husband, Mike, were involved in a serious car accident on the new bypass heading towards Carmarthen and without the Air Ambulance would almost certainly not be with us today.

Paula is still receiving treatment in hospital, but she and Mike are both now on the long road to recovery with the expert care and support of the doctors, nurses and support staff of the Wales NHS.

Although neither a bicycle nor lycra clothing were involved in any way, the irony of the cycling group name is not lost on anyone...
