Last Sunday, the worship leader was Mr. Anthony Standing who gave a warm welcome to many summer visitors. The speaker, Pastor Barry Cunningham, selected to read Romans chapter 1. Miss Helen Standing was the pianist and Mr. and Mrs. Taberer were the welcome stewards. The illustrated story was from Matthew 13. Mrs. Standing asked the young people if they liked sorting objects by colour, size or shape. Most people find they group things together. When we're grown up we often have a sorting out of things we want save or have finished with. The Bible is all about sorting out, making choices and Jesus told many stories about choices. He told a story about a fisherman who caught a net full of fish. On returning to the shore. he had to sort through the fish putting the good fish into baskets and throwing away the rest. The Bible tells us that 'Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the kingdom of Heaven, but only those who do the will of my Father in heaven' (Matt 7v 21). Every day, we make choices and every day we have the opportunity to choose to follow Jesus. Be ready today and don't delay. "Work out our own salvation does not mean we get to Heaven on our own merits," began Pastor Cunningham. He explained that to do the will of God we need to accept the plan that He has for each of us and present ourselves as a living sacrifice (dying to self) and doing what He asks of us each day. The very God of heaven appeals to us, it's an act of grace because He wants us to have the very best; real joy, purpose and contentment. On Sunday at 11 am, the speaker will be Pastor Barry Cunningham, with activities for young people in the hall during the message. There are no mid- week meetings until September the Beach Mission is using the hall for their preparation and activities if wet through to August 10. Details of activities can be found on notices around the village. We give you a warm welcome to our services and activities.
