Forecasters have warned that more rainy weather could be on the way for Wales over the weekend, as Pembrokeshire experienced a wet start to the week, with county council workers and fire crews called out to deal with cases of flooding in many local areas. Pembrokeshire County Council staff were called out on Sunday and for a second day on Tuesday as heavy rainfall again hit the county overnight. The overnight water which fell before Tuesday morning, adding to Sunday's downpour, kept workmen busy clearing drains, distributing sandbags and putting up road warning signs. Almost 2,000 sandbags were delivered to sites across the county, including Saundersfoot, Dinas, Eglwswrw, Dale and several locations in the Haverfordwest area. Several roads were temporarily closed by the police authorities, including roads between - Jeffreyston and Yerbeston, Tenby and Gumfreston, and Devonshire Drive in Pembroke. Most of the roads were cleared by Tuesday afternoon, but council officers are continuing to monitor the situation, with more rain forecast for the weekend. An elderly lady who became trapped in her vehicle shortly before 9 am on Tuesday morning on a bridge between Jeffreyston and Loveston with water entering her car, made her own escape before rescue services got to the scene. Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service had received 55 flood-related calls on Tuesday morning alone. Two fire crews from Tenby were called to three properties at The Croft shortly before 5 pm later that day, when a large quantity of flood water was threatening the buildings. Firefighters used pumps to clear the water. The Commons area in Pembroke found itself submerged in water on Tuesday morning as this photo taken by town clerk Hugh Colley shows.
