The last two weeks have seen Heatherton's reowned mascot 'Freddy the Fox' visiting schools around Pembrokeshire.
These visits were part of an inter-school competition, associated with the park's Maize Maze, which is embarking on its second year of opening.
Freddy educated the children of local primary schools as to how maize grows and how it needs to be looked after.
Selected children helped Freddy to plant maize in their garden as their entry into the competition. The last week of the school term will see Freddy return to each of the 27 schools to measure their maize. The school with the highest maize will receive a cash prize from Heatherton Sports Park.
New for the summer 2003, the maze boasts a Welsh football theme to support the team's growing success. The maze itself takes a bird's eye view form of Welsh football hero Ryan Giggs and prizes can be won on completion of the maze by scoring a goal against the Italian team.
New attractions include Heatherton's own invention 'Master Blaster', the latest in water sports action, giant board games, metal detecting, slide and pony trekking.
These activites accompany the already existing Maize Maze attractions: the maze itself, five-minute mazes, gem mine and adventure playground.
Freddy looks forward to announcing the winner of the schools maize competition in a few weeks time.
