With an 11.30 am start on Sunday, the Heatherton rink in the third round of the junior tournament - Ysie White, Liam Price, Ryan Thomas and Joe Dennis - had the chance of a lie-in before their match which, without stretching them too much, they won convincingly by 17 shots to five. The quarter-final was an altogether different game as their opponents where a very strong rink from Merthyr Tydfil. The Heatherton rink found themselves five shots down and then when holding a five, the opposition skip Liam Stone took the shot, it did not look good, but the whole rink moved up a gear. Ysie gave them good starts at each end, Liam, despite having an injured hand, gave good back- up, which gave a good platform for Ryan to play some first class drawing woods, and very well skipped by Joe Dennis, they gradually drew level, then clear of their opponents. Despite dropping a four on the last end, they gained a well-deserved victory by 13 shots to 10 to move on to the semi-final in April. This was a first class team effort. With all the team supporting each other and playing like this, who knows how far they can go. All at the Heatherton club wish them well.
