Last weekend, Heatherton played host to Pontardawe, who before the match were lying second in the league to Earlswood, and were hoping to have a good result to put pressure on the leaders with only two more matches to be played.
The three rinks playing in the morning session were:
J. Turley, K. Davies, T. Harris, J. Moffatt lost to K. Vanethan 14-23.
J. Hammond, M. Gouldingay, D. Robb, D. K. Thomas lost to A. Jones 18-25.
S. Dick, T. Shaw, B. Cale, R. Jones bt E. Davies 25-15.
Heatherton's three rinks bowled really well and contained Pontardawe to only a slender lead of six shots overall going into the afternoon session.
The three rinks bowling in the afternoon session were:
P. Gray, A. Whitehouse, J. Evans, R. Brabon bt H. Bowen 26-21.
P. Satts, I. Evans, M. Evans, J. Roberts lost to I. Terry 9-28.
H. Davies, E. Dezelle, C. Davies, S. Reese lost to C. Young 13-31.
The three afternoon rinks went down overall by 32 shots and Pontardawe went home winners by 38 shots and with 18 points in the bag.
Heatherton bowlers can be pleased with their efforts as they played against a very good and experienced side and it was a good match to watch.
The committee and members would like to express their best wishes for a speedy recovery to Tony Lamb, hon. secretary of Heatherton IBC, who is now home after a week in hospital.
Also, the committee would like to remind all members that the closing date for club competition entries is February 14.
