Heatherton Indoor Bowling Club played their first Greengauge Welsh League match on Saturday, when they were hosts to Earlswood Bowling Club, who were champions of the west division last year.
The match was played in a wonderful competitive spirit, and you could say it was a game of two halves.
The morning session against three very well balanced rinks saw Heatherton go down by 59 shots.
The afternoon session saw wonderful bowling, by all bowlers, and Heatherton's three rinks only lost overall by five shots.
J. Roberts and his rink bowled really well to draw, and got the only point for Heatherton, who lost by 64 shots and by 23 points to one.
Morning rinks were: J. Harris, J. Short, M. Evans, J. Moffat; B. Deeley, J. Lloyd, B. Cale, T. Howell; J. Hammond, H. Evans, M. Goldingay, D. Robb.
Afternoon rinks: H. Davies, R. James, K. Davies, S. Reese; E. Dezelle, I. Evans, J. Evans, J. Roberts; A. Jarvis, T. Shaw, R. Jones, C. Wynn.
The selectors wish to thank all the players for turning up and bowling really well.
The following day, Heatherton played their first WIBA Sunday championship match against Jersey Marine and performed very well to earn three points from the away session.
At home, the two rinks were: M. Young, D. Greaves, T. Harris, J. Moffat; J. Short, P. Satts, H. Evans, M. Evans.
Both rinks lost and went down overall by 19 shots.
The two rinks playing away bowled very well, with T. Howells and his crew winning 19-10 and the J. Evans foursome drawing 18-18.
Away rinks were: P. Bissell, S. Dick, J. Hammond, J. Evans; J. Turley, M. Dick, T. Shaw, T. Howells.
Heatherton lost by 10 shots overall and by 11 points to three.
