HEATHERTON 152 shots (22 pts) BRO-MYRDDIN 94 (O)
Bowling at home, Heatherton played the return fixture against Bro-Myrddin (Carmarthen), playing three rinks in the morning and three in the afternoon. The morning session started with both sides bowling very steady. In fact, Carmarthen held a one shot lead overall after the first five ends. After 10 ends, the match was still very close, with Heatherton only six shots ahead. Over the next five ends, however, Heatherton bowled really well and surged further ahead by 27 shots after 15 ends. Keeping up the pressure, Heatherton ended the morning session 44 shots ahead, to give the three rinks bowling in the afternoon a tremendous head start. The afternoon session was a much tighter affair, with all rinks very close throughout the 21 ends, but Heatherton were very relieved to eventually run out winners by 14 shots. Overall, Heatherton won the match by 58 shots and collected a very valuable 22 points. This was a very good match and I must congratulate Carmarthen, who bowled very well. Heatherton bowlers, who had lost their last two matches, were very pleased to get back to their winning ways. The next match will be in the new year against Swansea at Heatherton.
