Until recently, hearing impaired and profoundly deaf people have been unable to enjoy a cinema experience and the opportunity to share that experience with friends and family. The good news is that over a quarter of UK cinemas have now been equipped with new digital equipment which will change all that. One of those cinemas is the Torch Theatre in Milford Haven.

Thanks to the Dolby Screen Talk system, the provision of specially programmed subtitled screenings at the Torch represents a significant step forward in the service to their patrons.

Many popular cinema releases are now available with 'Screen Talk' subtitles for hearing impaired people and the number of films is increasing. At the moment, however, cinemas may only have a maximum of four weeks and a minimum of two weeks notice of which films are available with Screen Talk. For the Torch, this means that they will be unable to identify accessible screenings in time for their film brochure - however, they will announce them on their website immediately they become available and of course, all subscribers to their Films Mailing List via their website will automatically be kept informed.

The first film to be shown at the Torch with the new Screen Talk facility will be the latest Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. You can catch these screenings on Sunday, November 23, at 2.30 pm, Saturday, November 29, at 5 pm and Wednesday, December 3, at 7.30 pm. All members of the audience will be able to see the subtitles at these special screenings.

The Torch are keen that people with sensory or mobility issues should look forward to their visit with total confidence. Full details of the Torch's access facilities can be found both in their printed brochure and on their website http://www.torchtheatre.co.uk">www.torchtheatre.co.uk, and they are always happy to show you around in advance of your visit - just give their Box Office staff a call on 01646 695267.
