For the monthly minibus trip, Steps2Health Tenby headed east and out of the county. Entering Carmarthenshire, the cloud was darker and lower, or did it just seem to be so? However as 20 nine walkers and leaders gathered in sight of the iconic castle at the beach car park in Llansteffan, the mood was bright and cheerful. Paul supported by Val and Brian led the extension walk group west along the beach. They were followed by Barbara leading the 'Steady Eddies', backed up by Erica and Margaret.

At the far end of the beach everyone headed up to the village High Street and on towards the ancient church. A left turn brought them back round to the path back to the beach. At this point, the extension group forged on towards the woods and the castle, while the Steady Eddies turned down to The Green.

The extension group continued up the hill and through the woods below the castle round to the viewpoint. At this point, Paul discovered that the tide was further in than expected. So they couldn't go down the steps to the beach without getting their feet wet. The group circled back through the woods and made their way onto the beach via the boat slip. After a brisk stroll across the eastern end of the beach, they spotted the Steady Eddies and quickly overhauled them.

And so it was that everyone made their way together to the Village Stores and Café in the High Street for welcome refreshment. Although a few people found it rather chilly at the start, by the end of the walk everyone was glowing with warmth. The café staff made them very welcome and rose to the challenge of having 29 customers arrive all at once.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Brian will be leading a walk from New Hedges to Tenby. Two walks will be on offer. One will go via Waterwynch and the coastal footpath, while the other will go via the old road. Either catch the 351 bus at 10 o'clock or meet outside New Hedges village hall for 10:20.
