Two groups of Healthy Heart Community Cardiac Rehab patients and their families from around the county enjoyed the picturesque charms of Tenby this week. They walked from the Salterns to Penally via the golf course footpath and back across the South Beach, before enjoying well deserved refreshments. The afternoon group were luckier with the weather, but the larger morning group were still delighted with the stunning views. Volunteer walk leaders from the Steps2Health scheme have recently started leading walks for the Healthy Heart Community Cardiac Rehab groups around the county. On Monday, both groups were led by local volunteer Steps2Health walk leader Barbara Morris. The walkers were accompanied by cardiac rehab nurse Irene Hartup and fitness trainer Terry Main, of Pembrokeshire Leisure. Irene said: "Everyone seemed to enjoy the wonderful scenery and the social aspect of walking as a group with families and supporters. I'm really very pleased with the results of our co-operation with Steps2Health." Terry added: "Walking the length of the South Beach is excellent exercise, but it's also safe and suitable for all abilities. These walks are great for providing variety from our usual gym-based activities and they really help to motivate people to be more active, which is so important." All the walkers thoroughly enjoyed their walks around Tenby and are looking forward to the next time.
