It is now approaching 10 years since the then Welsh Assembly Minister of Health, Dr. Gibbons, opened the new Tenby Cottage Hospital in June 2006. It followed a long period of public pressure and, whilst it did not meet everyone’s full expectation, it provides a fine modern facility with wonderful staff and one we must support to reinforce and extend its health and social care activities.
SEPCHN is to run a coffee morning at the hospital, on Monday, June 27, and not June 6, as has been reported in some quarters. It is to celebrate the opening of the new hospital and the services it provides. All are invited to come along and enjoy the event and you are more than welcome to help in any way.
The services being provided at the hospital are evolving in the light of changing community needs and it is interesting to learn of these changes. Avenue Centre members are also interested in helping with the hospital flower beds and volunteers may also be involved in that, at a later date.
Entry is £1, plus a raffle, with all proceeds going to the hospital day centre.
