A much-anticipated automatic external defibrillator was delivered to the Eglwyscummin Community Association at Red Roses on Tuesday by Welsh ambulance support officer, Tim Pearce, on behalf of the British Heart Foundation.

The community association had been hopeful that the BHF would sanction such a machine following its on-line July application, therefore it was delighted when the Heart Foundation gave the green light to provide the much needed equipment to the Red Roses community.

A dozen community trustees turned out to greet Mr. Pearce and to learn firsthand how an emergency AED can be used by any member of the public to help save a life should the need arise.

Seen here with the WAS official is community chairman, Ian Evans, who informed the ambulance support officer how grateful he is to have taken possession of the invaluable piece of equipment which will now be affixed to the community centre wall in order to make it wholly accessible to every member of the Eglwyscummin community in times of cardiac emergency.

There is a follow-on CPR training session to be held at the Red Roses community hall on Wednesday, October 21, at 7 pm. There is no charge, and as many Eglwyscummin residents as possible are encouraged to attend in order to gain insight to the AED-linked cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedure.
