Hywel Dda University Health Board is inviting the public to a virtual event to discuss Phase Two redevelopment plans for women and children’s services at Glangwili Hospital.

Following on from previous Let’s Talk Health online engagement events, the University Health Board is hosting an online question and answer session on their Facebook channel, on Tuesday, June 21, from 6.30 - 8 pm, to discuss plans for the Carmarthen hospital.

Hosted by Steve Moore, chief executive, with attendance from clinical, management and estates staff, the online session will be separated into two parts. The first part of the evening will be dedicated to sharing and discussing plans for the redevelopment of SCBU (Special Care Baby Unit), labour ward and maternity theatres. The university health board recognises there are wider issues regarding women and children’s services that the public may want to discuss and so there will be the opportunity to ask more general questions during the second part of the session.

It is the latest part of engagement on the Phase Two project, which thus far has involved a great deal of input from staff groups, as well as use of Graffitti Boards in ward locations to get patient and family views.

Other events are being held during the week, specifically to scope views on the Glangwili Phase Two plans, including meetings with special interest groups such as baby and toddler groups in each county, bereavement support groups, the Community Health Council and sensory impairment and disability groups. Drop-in sessions will also be held in the canteen of each acute hospital between 11 am and 3 pm on the following days; Bronglais, Monday, June 20; Glangwili, Wednesday, June 22; and Withybush, Thursday June 23.

Schedules of accommodation and engagement comments so far are available to view at the website (see link below) and drawing plans will be available soon.

Steve Moore said: “We hope you will be able to join us to share your views, especially if you are someone who has recently given birth, or the partner of someone who has recently given birth. We are going to be sharing the drawings and we really want to hear from you about whether we have got them right and other things we ought to think about.”
