Hywel Dda Health Charities would like to thank the communities of Pembrokeshire for the good will that local people showed towards older adult mental health services at St. Non’s Ward, Withybush Hospital over the Christmas period.

Last November, Hywel Dda Health Charities launched a campaign called Give a Gift asking for people to purchase gifts towards older adult mental health services at their local hospital.

Over 140 gifts, worth nearly £2,000 have been received towards older adult mental health services within Hywel Dda University Health Board. The public supported the appeal by purchasing gifts through an Amazon wish list.

Hywel Dda University Health Board’s older adult mental health teams care for patients in a safe and supportive environment. The teams carefully chose the items on Amazon that would be of most benefit to their patients. Items included arts and crafts materials, toys and games, jigsaws and books suitable for dementia and older adult mental health patients.

Kristin Jordan, ward manager at St. Non’s in Withybush said: “The response to the Give a Gift Appeal has been amazing. Thank you so much to everyone who has purchased and donated products, books, games, CDs, toys and activities for our older adult mental health patients at St. Non’s unit at Withybush Hospital. The gifts will enable us to organise stimulation and engagement activities on the ward that will make a real difference to our patients. We are truly grateful for every gift.”

Hywel Dda Health Charities is a registered charity which supports patients, staff and services within Hywel Dda Local University Health Board.
