Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, has launched its 2023 Pet Competition.

The competition gives members of the public the opportunity to win prizes while also helping the charity to raise funds which make a positive difference to the lives of NHS patients, service users and staff in the Hywel Dda area.

Owners of fabulous felines, perfect pooches, gorgeous guinea pigs, scary spiders or beautiful budgies are all invited to enter the annual competition.

Pet owners can enter as many times as they like in the categories of Cutest Dog, Cutest Cat, Cutest Other Pet and the new category, Best Dressed Pet. Each photo entry costs £3.

It’s easy to take part, all participants need to do is send a photo of their pet to [email protected] or WhatsApp the photo to 07970 948702, along with their name, the category they are entering, and their contact details, and then follow the donation instructions in this link:

The competition is open to everyone in the Health Board area, which includes Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. Entries opened on February 1 and close on February 28, 2023. The top three for each category will be shortlisted by a panel of mental health service users. The winner of each category will be chosen by a public online voting poll.

There are first place prizes in each category donated by local businesses.

Diane Henry-Thomas, fundraising support officer, said: “We are very excited that our annual Pet Competition is back, and this time with a brand-new category!

“Each time someone enters our Pet Competition with pictures of their fabulous pets, they are helping us to provide services and activities above and beyond what the NHS can normally provide. Thank you for your continued support!”
