A Christmas campaign is seeking support from local communities to help create magical festive memories for children and young people across mid and west Wales who are receiving NHS care this Christmas.
Hywel Dda Health Charities' Give a Gift campaign invites people to help brighten the festive season for children and young people supported by Hywel Dda University Health Board's paediatric palliative care team.
The campaign aims to bring comfort, joy and special moments to children and families who may be facing difficult circumstances over the festive period.
There are several ways to support the campaign, such as the following:
- Choose a Wish Fund gift tag from the Christmas tree at Dunelm Carmarthen, purchase the gift described on the tag and return it to the store by 12th December.
- Take part in the Hywel Dda Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 11th December and donate £3 by texting WISHFUND 3 to 70085 or by visiting the charity website. There’s an opportunity to enter your photo in the following four Christmas Jumper categories: Best Individual, Best Team, Best Homemade, Best Dressed Pet!
- Make a direct donation to the Wish Fund.
Tara Nickerson, Fundraising Manager for Hywel Dda Health Charities, said: “Christmas should be a magical time for every child, but for some families receiving care and treatment, it can also be incredibly challenging.
“We are asking our local communities to help us bring joy, comfort and moments of happiness to children and young people who may be spending Christmas in hospital or receiving specialist care at home.
“Whether you donate a gift, take part in Christmas Jumper Day or make a monetary donation, your support will help create precious memories for children and families when they matter most.”
