Hywel Dda Health Charities has funded games and activities worth over £300 for Withybush General Hospital’s Ward 12, which provides frailty and dementia care for older adults.
Zoe Griffiths, Ward 12’s Senior Sister, said: “The activities will enhance the experience and wellbeing of patients and staff on the ward who will be able to benefit from some independence and fun activities.”
She added: “The frailty activities will enable the team on Ward 12 the opportunity to provide a positive patient experience. They will also allow our patients to express themselves creatively and to find calm.”
Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
Hywel Dda Health Charities supports your local NHS to make a positive difference for patients, service users, families, carers and staff in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
The generous charitable donations that the charity receive from patients, their families and local communities don’t replace NHS funding; they are used to provide items and activities above and beyond core NHS expenditure such as:
- Extra patient comforts
- Most up-to-date medical equipment
- More welcoming surroundings for patients, families and staff
- Staff training, development and wellbeing initiatives
- Research into, and the development of, treatments
- Enhanced care in our local communities.
