LOCAL Pembrokeshire College student, Charlie Humphreys, has recently been helping in a campaign to encourage potential healthcare employees to the area.

As part of a wider recruitment campaign to attract medical, nursing and other healthcare professional to come and work in the NHS locally in West Wales, Hywel Dda University Health Board approached Pembrokeshire College with an opportunity for a media student to participate in some of its local recruitment campaigns.

Through this successful partnership, arranged with Denys Bassett Jones, senior lecturer at the college, student Charlie Humphreys became involved in the campaign by creating a promotional video focusing on occupational therapist and physiotherapist roles within the Hywel Dda area.

The University Health Board is currently seeking occupational therapists for roles within its mental health and learning disabilities services as well as physiotherapists specialising in musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions.

Dedicated webpages, providing information about local recruitment opportunities in both these services, have been launched and feature short videos and testimonials featuring some of our existing staff, as well as information about the services provided. Visit the pages here:

Sally Owen, strategic rsourcing manager at the University Health Board, said: “This is the first time our recruitment campaign team have worked with the college on this project and we are delighted with the video Charlie produced for us, which will positively support our recruitment campaign activities locally.

“We are very grateful to Denys and Charlie for the opportunity to work collaboratively on the campaign. They are excellent ambassadors for the college and the quality of the work provided by Charlie has been inspiring.”

Considerable efforts are ongoing to recruit into posts within the University Health Board, reaching out not only to Wales and UK audiences, but globally. A series of key events are also being planned for the year ahead, including recruitment open days providing an opportunity for health services within the area to show how, despite being a small rural service, they can still lead the way in local and national service developments.

The next recruitment open day will be held at Withybush Hospital on Saturday, June 10 (from 10.45 am to 2.30 pm).
