Cancer patients and their families were at the Senedd last week to discuss the top five priorities that matter most to them with Tenovus Cancer Care.

Local Senedd Member Paul Davies joined fellow Senedd Members and supporters from across Wales to hear more from patients and their clinicians on what they want from cancer services.

The event, including a panel discussion, was held at the Senedd and brought together members of the All-Wales Cancer Community, a unique initiative launched by Tenovus Cancer Care to unite people from across the nation who have been affected by cancer — either personally or through a loved one.

Around 200 individuals from every corner of Wales are now part of the community, contributing their valuable insight and experiences to help inform policy decisions, service development, and research. The occasion was part of Tenovus Cancer Care’s annual Summer Tea Party.

Guests at the Senedd event were welcomed with a heartfelt performance by the Tenovus ‘Sing with Us’ Choir, from Swansea, made up entirely of individuals who have been affected by cancer. Their powerful voices set a moving tone for the gathering, which also featured personal stories from members of the All-Wales Cancer Community.

Mr Davies, Welsh Parliament Member for Preseli Pembrokeshire, said:

“It was a privilege to join Tenovus Cancer Care and hear directly from those whose lives have been impacted by cancer. The voices of patients are so important in shaping policy and understanding the challenges that many people living with cancer face.

“Tenovus Cancer Care and the All-Wales Cancer Community have worked hard to promote patients’ voices and as someone living with cancer myself, I’m proud to support their work.”
