The Hay Shantymen have thanked those in Tenby for coming out to see them last weekend, and help raise over £1,000 for the RNLI.

Every year, The Hay Shantymen “go off on a jolly” spending the weekend at a town with a lifeboat station and singing there to raise funds for the local RNLI - and this month it was Tenby’s turn.

The group which is based in Hay-on-Wye get together to rollick their way through shanties and other great songs!

They have adopted the RNLI as their charity and raise funds wherever they perform. To date they have raised in excess of £8,500.

The Hay Shantymen performed at Tenby’s lifeboat stations, the bandstand, the Sailing Club and the Hope and Anchor on a scorching Saturday at the seaside town; before singing outside St Mary’s Church on the Sunday.

Posting on Facebook, they said: “Thank you SO much to everybody who came to hear us sing in Tenby over the weekend.

“You gave us a challenging task in counting all the bucket contents, and we're delighted to be able to announce the total raised for Tenby Lifeboats RNLI is...£1,101.92!

“That's just the icing on the cake of a brilliant weekend, in a lovely town, singing six fantastic gigs.”
