Despite a late run surge, Cresselly were unable to reach a winning target of 204 in the Jubilee Cup Final at Haverfordwest. Harfat openers Richard James and David Davies gave the town team a solid start with a first wicket partnership of 52. James scored 43 with five 4s before being run out, Davies scored 12 and Phil Kirkby 14. Sixty-six runs were added for the fifth wicket between Karl Rhead and Paul Luke. Rhead scored 46 with five 4s and a six, before giving a return catch to Mathew Lewis, and Luke, a former Cresselly player, scored 29. Andrew Phillips maintained the momentum before being trapped with his pads in front off the bowling of Ryan Lewis for 25. There were also 25 extras, including 22 wides. Spinner Ryan Lewis took 3 for 37 and skipper Lyn Richards 2 for 67. Haverfordwest struck an early blow when Cresselly replied as Lynn Richards was bowled by Phil Kirkby without scoring. However, the pugnacious Julian Arthur scored 38 before falling leg before wicket to the off-spinner Mathew Johns. Andrew Harris had a useful innings of 19 and Damian Arthur scored 26. Although Cresselly had been scoring runs, the run rate was below the level required and victory appeared to be elusive. Richard Harris kept the bowlers at bay at one end with his 21 not out and wicket-keeper Neilson Cole had an attacking innings of 29, including one huge six which hit the Haverfordwest clubhouse. Unfortunately for Cresselly, Cole was bowled next ball by Phil Kirkby and when he returned to the pavilion Cresselly's victory hopes ended. Spinner Mathew Johns took 3 for 30 for Haverfordwest. His spin twin Clive Tucker took 2 for 21 and Phil Kirkby took 2 for 28. The Jubilee Cup was presented to the Haverfordwest captain, Karl Rhead, after the match by the county club president, Stanley Richards.
