The next meeting of Tenby Connect has been scheduled for November 10.
Set-up with the assistance of Planed and co-ordinated by Tenby Town Council, Tenby Connect brings together all Tenby's organisations to provide a useful consultative forum, and an opportunity to work in partnership to achieve the goals set out in the Action Plan.
Devised following extensive public participation, and adopted in 2007, the Action Plan saw the local community identify a series of proposals designed to improve the quality of life in the local community by enhancing the appearance of the area, by improving the economy (particularly tourism) and by strengthening and diversifying the town's attraction for all residents and visitors.
Tenby Connect was set-up as a result of this consultation process as the various contributors to the Action Plan realised that progress could best be achieved through discussion and partnership as many of the proposals involved different land or property ownerships, separate interests and different sources of funding.
"The Connect meetings to date have been really beneficial, providing consultation and input on such aspects as the enhancement of Tudor Square, the provision of a skate park, the setting up of a conservation forum to protect the town's build heritage and so forth," explained clerk to Tenby Town Council, Mr. Andrew Davies.
"Not only have people been able to give their opinion, but we've been able to discuss ways in which these ideas can be achieved in the best interests of the people of Tenby and its visitors.
"However, there are still a number of things on the 'wish list' like the provision of a low water landing stage, the enhancement of Castle Hill and the refurbishment of the De Valence which we would love to achieve, and the best way to do this is by the town 'connecting' and working together," he continued.
While Mr. Davies acknowledged that some of the proposals in the Action Plan had been achieved, he stressed that the plan was also a 'living' document as it recognised that the needs and desires of the community may change over the years.
As such, there is no formal agenda for the meeting at the Augustus Place Community Centre at 7 pm and any proposals for discussion can be submitted to Tenby Town Council prior to the meeting.
While there is a mailing list of previous attendees, who will all be invited along, the meeting is also open to any other representatives of local organisations who may like to be present.
Anyone interested can contact Mr. Davies on 842730, Monday to Friday, between 9 and 1 pm or 1.30 to 4.30 pm, for further details.
